Appropriation with Premiere

I came up with the idea for this video at a time when I was feeling burnt out in CS. It had started to feel like a drag, like it was losing its meaning to me. I was reminded of the "X lore vs x gameplay" memes that juxtapose the rich history of a field (such as mathematics or physics) and its monotonous practice. I wanted to make something like that for CS to hopefully inspire myself by remembering how far CS has come and how vast the applications are.

The beginning of the video is a timelapse of a developer coding. The slowed down framerate and repeated, visible passage of time evoke a sense of monotony. The video then goes through the history of CS, going as far back as the ancient times, when the first analog computers were built and the theoretical foundations established. The music picks up as the first digital computers are introduced. As the video gets to modern computers, the intensity keeps rising, making a parallel of how modern computer have been becoming more and more capable.
